Eee PC 1000H vs 1000 SSD Version (HDD vs Asus SSD)
Practical Performance Comparison between the hard drive and SSD versions of the EEE 1000. I found that the SSD on the 1000 was actually slower than the EEE 1000H on performing any task that significantly utilized writes to the storage system.
Here’s the kicker too… The SSD had 2GB of ram installed, and the 1000H had 1GB!
This isnt to discredit all SSD drives, just the ones that come with the Eee PCs, which are very sub-par SSDs compared to the HDD replacements that are sold.

The 1000H with XP is $100 cheaper? Not the case here in Europe. That’s not what I remembered, and I just checked a UK supplier who has it for £20 (< $40) less than the Linux version w/ 40GB SSD, which I got.
Not regretting it after seeing your video – the benefits of the SSD outweigh the disadvantages for me. One trick for using SSD with XP is: NO Swapfile. Not even with 1GB RAM – get more RAM if it’s a problem. If you use one, XP will use it, even if it doesn’t need to.
The SSD version may be a bit slower (the one I have), but the battery life definitely outweighs the slight decrease in performance when compared to the 1000H. I have been able to squeeze over 9hrs on a single charge in XP. From what I’ve read, 1000H get about 5.5 – 6hrs. I bought it for school and taking notes in class. I have a desktop when I need performance.
in Asus 1000 SSD it’s important that you install WinXP on 8GB Partition or 32GB one. which one you used? 8GB one is faster if you don’t know!
