    Hi,
I found your article on s3 standby interesting and will be giving that a try on my computers for sure. One thing that I was curious about was would this work on a computer that is used as a media center htpc? My computer records various shows during the day and the ability for the machine to go into a standby mode at least til the first recording would save me some money.
    Thanks again for the article,
    Steve

Your page about the S3 sleep + Always On type computers / servers… doesn’t allow comments. It seems you forgot to close a link tag for the slashdot link. Any time anyone tries to comment they send the URL to slashdot. Which, it has already been submitted :)

Steve, Good News, Media Center Edition has the feature of bringing a computer out of the S3 standby state to record TV shows. This should work automatically. Give it a try and let us know here or on the forums. Thanks for posting!

Regarding the S3 article, I have a wifi card on my machine which has no option for auto-wakeup. Any idea how to go about this still? (I added you on MSN regarding this as well).

I am wanting to download free “legal” movies from the internet and I am a new internet user and therefore I am concerned with safety and don’t want hackers getting in to my computer. I have heard I need a BitTorrent and was curious how safe this is. I don’t want to do anything illegal and don’t want to compromise my computer. What is your opinion on this? Any sites that you’d recommend over another ?

Thanks for any info you can provide.

    Harley,
If you want to download free legal movies, you may be out of luck, there are a few sites that offer them for free, but the movies are usually very old. (1920’s movies). One good option is to get a netflix account. With certain plans as low as $13 a month, you can now watch movies online in addition to getting movies in the mail.
As for bittorrents, I recommend utorrent. If you don’t already know what “a bittorrent” is, read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent
I don’t think bittorrent will help you get free legal movies online though.

Thank you very much, I will check wikipedia for the definition of “bitorrent”. Someone in one of the Office Depot stores had told me about it but I wasn’t sure if it was legit or not. It sounded too good to be true and I don’t want to do anything illegal.
    Thanks for the info.

I am looking for a freeware software to convert dvds to zune. I was told there were a few “free” programs for this but don’t know which ones or how to search.I am new to all this internet and zune/ipod stuff and don’t know where to look. I don’t want to pay $35-$50 for a software if there is one I could get for free. I use dvd shrink and love it but would like to put some movies on my zune and my boyfriends iPod as well. Any suggestions or ideas ?

    Thx a ton!

Do you have any simple steps to remove program info from the registry in Windows Vista?
I did a trial version of a software that had some problems.Certain parts of the program wouldn’t function properly due to I didn’t know I had to turn off the norton security so I was told by the software’s support that it may have caused problems with the program and to remove it and reinstall it but I waited too long and when I went to remove it and re-download it the program said the trial had expired and so I again emailed the support team and they said to remove it from the registry and re-download it. Any idea how I can do that without having to pay the best buy geek squad $50 to do it for me ?
I also want to remove some of the unwanted preinstalled programs from the registry as well.Any help would be great.I only know how to remove it from the “add/remove” in the control panel. I don’t have a clue when it comes to the registry.

Hey, just saw your video on your NES gaming system. I would just like to show you a convention I have been attending since it first started and something like this would really be awesome to show off.
