Let me congratulate you on the setup and hosting of your own personal site. I think its really cool!
I like the concept of content, aesthetics and usefulness as it really reflects what I believe websites should be about. I am a 34 year old hearing impaired college student hailing all the way from Nassau, The Bahamas. Lately, my life has taken sort of an interesting twist and, being more community-minded these days and want to introduce people to the power of technology and the internet. I want to introduce disabled people to the future.
The challenge I face however, is in making information available – as well as the technology itself – and thats why I really appreciate your accomplishment. Its not just about being self-reliant and effective, but using common everyday tools to accomplish great things while helping others without spending a fortune on “professionals.”
Interestingly, I was browsing the net for news on technology and ideas for my own website project when I came across your own. As the project is part of a Computer Studies project, I must do it myself (and I will!!!). Its just that I want it to be a fully functional site complete with disability-related forums etc like yours, rather than simply a “proof-of-concept”. So any information and pointers you could share about your own experiences would be greatly appreciated.
Again, thank you for taking the initiative to explore, document and share your passion on a global scale. It has both validated and encouraged my desire to do the same. Only real dilemma I have is, which is the better platform to use… Micro$oft or Linux? LOL
